June is the first month for roses here in the Okanagan but with the dry climate some continue blooming until December. The most vibrant arrive in June.  Each of these is in acrylic on  8 X 8 X 1.5" inch cradle board so no framing is required.  The painted images wrap around the side.

Hang one to brighten a niche or cluster a few for a dynamic presentation.  For your viewing pleasure I bring you 'Debutante' on the left and 'Hot Pink Rose' on the right.

The next pink and coral hued rose entitled 'Love Me Do' is the same size and media, acrylic on 8 X 8 X 1.5" cradle board. $160.00 each.  Shipping is just a little extra.  These paintings can be in your home in around a week.

Contact me for more information.

Be sure to drop in and see the show.  I have on entry and I think you will identify my style.  There are plenty of beautiful pieces to admire. The show opens on Saturday May 15 and runs till June 12th, 2021 with hours of 11 to 4 Tuesday to Saturday.

During this long, long period of Covid I have found ways of diverting my thoughts-- painting flowers worked for the longest time and then I was overcome by a desire for sweets,  followed by their  associated memories.

Smarties, the Canadian confection, was one of my regular choices at the movies when I had a special day with my father, either Smarties or chocolate buds.  He warned me that I couldn't have MacIntosh toffee bars as they'd pull my fillings out.  Happily I'd choose the Smarties package and never did I object to eating the red ones.  Their crunch and sweetness would fortify me against noble dog stories that would make me cry or later, horror movies watched through 3-D glasses.

But it was during my university years, that my loyalty turned to Oh Henry bars with their peanut crunch, the just right sweetness of the nougat centre and outer coating of chocolate.  I swore by them at exam time.  It was really fun painting this bar with its up-close perspective.

A few years ago my husband and I went to Long Beach, Washington where we visited an old-fashioned ice cream parlour with pink and white striped wallpaper. A row of candy and peanut dispensers flanked one wall, the contents of which were just like my childhood memories. I wanted to capture my feelings about Dubble Bubble gumballs in this painting.  There is a smell and taste that is unique to the brand and painting this dispenser took me there.

For your viewing pleasure and possibly part of your home art collection.

Smarties     8 X 10 X 1.5" Acrylic on cradle board     $150

Oh Henry    9 X 12 X 1.5" Acrylic on cradle board     $175

Hello,

We have moved and most of the boxes have their contents placed in just the right places.  My studio is all set up and I have new pieces underway.

I've moved from Osoyoos to Oliver, BC.

My new address is 6546 Junegrass Street, Oliver, BC V0H 1T3  Phone is 250 485 5237

All the streets in this brand new subdivision are named after grasses native to the area.

We've just done a switch-up at Peggy Stel's charming gallery in Penticton called, 'Picture This!  Custom Framing and Gallery' where my new display of roses and ornamental kales, vegetables and fruit are located.  If you're in Penticton, head north on Main Street and where you might turn right to go to Front Street, instead turn left onto Westminster Avenue, head to the second block.  It's a small jewel of a gallery filled with art to put a smile on your face.

Picture This!  Custom Framing and Gallery at 133 Westminster Ave W, Penticton, BC V2A 1J7  Tuesday to Saturday.

Please stop in and take a look. Some of these on your wall will break the spell of Covid!

Hello,

I hope you are all staying well and cozy while we are living this life.

Houses in the Okanagan have been selling at a rapid pace and our home overlooking the lake was one of those sold recently. Our home sold to the third viewer because she loved the studio, a full wall of North light--an artist's dream and a huge picture window on the east wall.  During 2 seasons I never needed to turn on the lights in the daytime.   We are moving to Oliver to a new rancher on the river walk.  No stairs will be nice.  My e-mail will remain the same but my phone number will change.

The first boxes I will unpack in the new home will be those labelled 'Kitchen' but I assure you the next will read 'Studio' as I am itching to paint after a month of packing boxes.

In the meantime, I'm sending you a colourful trio of paintings.  Each is 24 X 24, acrylic on canvas, framed and ready to hang.  Well priced, too at $500 each.  Shipping is just a little extra.

Please contact me with questions or interest at 'Contact' above and I will get right back to you.

When we first moved to the Okanagan and had our visit Penticton visit, I was thrilled to find some neon on Main Street. The Elite Restaurant, the oldest restaurant in Penticton is now a steak house.  Those of you who have been following me for a while know that I have done other nostalgic signs, The Oliver Theatre (sold) and The Pow Wow Drive In from Oroville, Washington. This painting 20" high by 10" wide has found a new Penticton home.

Please stop by Picture This! Custom Framing and Gallery, 133 Westminster Ave. W. in Penticton to see up close my recent collection.  Other items are on display in various parts of the gallery.  Peggy Stel, the owner, will be happy to answer al your questions and framing needs.  Open Tuesday to Saturday.

When I was young and our family would go to a restaurant, my father often ordered the "mixed catch". I thought it risky but thrilling--not to really know what you're getting.  So here's a small risk-free mixed catch for you today.

While it's not the end of the roses in Osoyoos--they're still blooming--I am moving on, likely to return to painting them again some day.  So this is my last for a while.  I call it Cotton Candy because of the colour.

'Cotton Candy' 8 X 8 X 1.5" Acrylic on exhibition canvas.

The second painting requires a bit of an introduction.  Some of you who have been following me for a while know my penchant for nostalgic neon signs as I've painted The Oliver Theatre sign (sold) and The Pow Wow Drive In sign from Oroville, Washington.  When we first arrived in Penticton, I was thrilled that there was a huge neon sign on Main Street and that the restaurant was actually operating and had been since 1922.  The Elite Restaurant is not called that any longer, it's a steakhouse now.  Next week 'The Elite Restaurant' will be showing at Picture This! Custom Framing and Gallery in Penticton.

The Elite Restaurant 20 X 10" Acrylic on canvas.  $300.

Please enquire if you're interested in either of these items.
