Please stop by the Ferdinand Gallery just east of the centre of Keremeos on Hwy 3 (the Crowsnest) to see the two Carolynes' work.  We wil be in the gallery on June 29 and July 8th in the afternoon.   i will be painting and happy to meet you.  You will also get the opportunity to meet Dave and Susan, owners and artisans, makers of concrete creatures.  Lots to see!                                         

Yet another art show--'tis the season, this one at the Ferdinand Gallery/One Eyed Budgie in Keremeos featuring the Osoyoos Artists on Main with a variety of subjects and sizes for your viewing pleasure, including my 'In the Peach Orchard'.  If you're heading to the Okanagan Valley via Hwy 3, otherwise known as the Crowsnest Hwy, just past the town of Keremeos you'll find this little gem of a gallery where you can meet an artist or two most afternoons, as well as Dave and Susan who create the most amazing concrete critters, including frogs, crows, and others.  This show is on daily until June 24th.

Filled with paintings, quilting, pottery, glasswork and more The ART GALLERY Osoyoos hosts the Summer Artisan Market 2019.  Please stop and look at my little corner of the gallery when you're there.  

My apologies to my blog followers.  I've been very busy assisting my husband in his post-surgery recovery so my normal painting output has slowed.  However, I did have time to paint subjects that I've been longing to work on for some time:  Honey Bears and French Marmalade.  We pretty much live in a sugar-free zone here so the only way I could bring them in without dispute was to buy them as subjects for art.  And now I have immortalized them.  I'm going to pop some good bread and soften some butter and sit down for afternoon tea with this trio.

Just in time to celebrate the beautiful, warm spring we are enjoying in Osoyoos, ‘Dancing in Sunlight’ is ready for your enjoyment.  With its pleated chiffon skirt-like petals it seemed to be swaying in the breeze.  Each sunflower has its own personality, its own hues, and mood.  This one sweet and perky, a natural entertainer.

I am pleased to announce that my 24 X 24 X 1.5" oil on canvas has just won Painting of the Month at the Artists on Main Studio in Osoyoos. It will be on display at Imperial Office Pro on Main Street starting on the afternoon of March 29th, 2019. It will be featured in the calendar that Artists on Main propose to produce this fall.

  I am thrilled to announce that I was awarded Second Place at the Federation of Canadian Artists’ Show entitled ‘On the Wall’ being held at The ART GALLERY Osoyoos until March 30, 2019 for ‘my painting ‘September Sunflower’.  It was announced that I would have been awarded Second Place for my other entry entitled ‘In the Peach Orchard’ however FCA by-laws prevent an artist from being awarded twice in a show.    This is my first award and I am very happy.

After a long absence we have returned from S.E. Asia where my husband was hospitalized for several weeks.  Thanks to Michael Jorden for submitting my two works of art for jurying to the Federation of Canadian Artists!  I am thrilled to have been juried into this prestigious show held at The ART GALLERY Osoyoos, starting March 9th where you can meet the artists and enjoy the refreshments from 12 to 4 p.m. I hope that my patrons will have a chance to come and view the works, all of which are for sale.  The show continues till March 30th.

I hope you are having a joyous and restful season.  This is a very non-seasonal blog probably because as the snow drifts down here I am thinking about summer.

Sometimes I like a study so much that I decide to paint it larger and that was the case for Ah! Sun-Flower but in addition to increased size I decided to do it in oil paints. This is the year that I will commit myself to painting more in oils, I decided a few months ago but when I got started I thought to myself I'd just better commit myself. Not to oils, either. Getting the hang of a different medium isn't always fun but it did becomes increasingly more enjoyable until I couldn't wait to jump out of bed to do some more work on it. This is the big version of what I had done before and called it 'Ah! Sun-Flower' after a poem by William Blake. Prior to this I had rashes and wheezing when working with oil and my lips and tongue would go numb but I've tried it again and those symptoms have disappeared. This was so much fun and I want to share it with you.

Can you believe how swiftly the year has passed!  This is the first snowfall that has stuck to the ground here so we consider ourselves fortunate.  But could someone please explain to me why it is that winter arrives I want to paint summer images?  Am I a malcontent? Whatever it is, I do love to paint sunflowers and here's one for you from an Osoyoos garden almost ripe for harvest.  

For a long time I have wanted to paint a red onion and searching through the grocery store bin I found the perfect one:  round, spherical, unblemished with a little topknot.  I sketched and sketched, figured out how to fix the colours and off I went.  And here you are--ta da!  A red onion.

Each painting is acrylic on 8 X 8 X 1.5" wooden cradle board prepared to the finest standards.  $120 Canadian dollars. Shipping extra.
