Normally I don't buy oranges, too messy, possibly bitter but these Spanish oranges were perfectly plump and appeared to be full of sweetness. They did not disappoint! When fruit is this beautiful I must paint it! To create my artist's set-up I found my blue vase, a velvet cloth and some cotton to hang over a cardboard box. When I shone the light at the oranges in the colander I thought the subject could paint itself. Painting the metal on the colander required close observation but I am delighted with the result. This issue the beginning of a series of paintings with reflective surfaces.
Oil on deep exhibition canvas 12 X 12 X 1.5" with the sides painted as a continuation of the painting. Shipping extra.
